Lakefront spectacular on Thompson Lake in Oxford, Maine

Thompson Lake is eight miles long, nearly two miles wide, and covers an area of 4,419 acres. Its maximum depth is 121 feet, its mean depth is 35 feet, and its water qualiy is rated as “excellent” by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, its higest rating. After Sebago Lake and Long Lake, Thompson Lake is the largest lake in the area.

Located northeast of Sebago Lake and just 45 minutes from Portland, Thompson Lake is bounded by the towns of Poland to the south and east, Casco and Otisfield on its west shore, and Oxford on its south end and east shore.

Because of its size and water quality, Thompson Lake is very popular with boaters, fishermen, and lakefront property owners. Recreational boaters can enjoy all kinds of water-related activities, while fishermen will find ample supplies of brook and lake trout, pickerel, largemouth bass, salmon, and perch to wet their line on.

Lakefront property owners love Thompson Lake because homes on this lake retain their value and always garner more than their share of attention when put up for sale. At the southern end of the lake is a full service marina and boat launch.

If you crave a big lake experience without so much of the big lake boat traffic and activity, Thompson Lake might just be the lake for you.
